Patient-Centered Scheduling

Within the past decade, patients have been granted the opportunity to be involved in their digital healthcare. We have seen an increasing adoption of the personal health record (PHR), enabling patients to visualize their results and communicate with their physicians. Moreover, several companies such as ZocDoc and DocMeIn have facilitated the process of making appointments online by showing patients available slots and allowing patients to choose a time that is convenient for them to see their physicians.

At EHI, we have adopted patient-centric scheduling but have improved upon the current models. Our model allows physicians to embed schedulers on their own practice websites (unlike freestanding sites like ZocDoc), integrating access to appointments with information about a practice and disease processes. We have also integrated our scheduler into search engines, allowing patients to make appointments with the same level of ease as making a dinner reservation with OpenTable.

While our system is designed with a patient’s ease of use in mind, it can also streamline your front office’s workflow. Our scheduler can confirm patient demographics and insurance so that your front office need not do this at the appointment time, allowing your staff to focus on more pressing tasks. Moreover, our scheduler allows for patients to check themselves into their appointments both from their cell phones or from a kiosk located in your office.

Our scheduler will, additionally, allow patients to input their insurance information and to confidently know that their appointments will be covered before making an appointment. For self-pay patients, our platform will quote fees for the appointment and when appropriate, collect fees prior to the appointment time. Similarly, if a patient has a past-due balance, the scheduler will indicate this and allow your patients to pay their balance. Finally, our scheduler will send text or email reminders to patients prior to their appointments, increasing your show rate.
